Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a 3D Modeler/CAD Drafter to support the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) group from Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL . The Creator should possess experience working in 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting (CAD) in a professional environment using SOLIDWORKS or other 3D modeling software. This individual will assist in the development of digital training media for Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs).

Typical Responsibilities:

• Work in 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting (CAD) in a professional environment using SOLIDWORKS or other 3D modeling software.
• Use 3D modeling techniques and best practices to assist with interactive video development.
• Develop detailed technical documentation including 2D Technical Drawings.
• Develop interactive 3D Animation/Video for training.
• Collaborate with an integrated product team, including a variety of technical and non-technical teammates.

Location: Hybrid. Primarily onsite at local THOR office or at NSWC PCD, both in Panama City, FL. Some local remote/telework may be permitted as schedule/duties permit.

US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required . Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Secret Security Clearance Eligibility Required : This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. To qualify, a candidate must either possess an active Secret security clearance (highly preferred); OR be eligible and able to obtain a clearance prior to hire.

Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.

Anticipated Travel: This position is anticipated to require up to 15% travel, to locations in Virginia, California, Louisiana, and/or Japan.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• One of the following:
  • Technical diploma, Associate’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree in a drafting or design discipline.
  • Professional drafting/design certification such as ASME GD&T.
• At least three (3) years of recent, relevant professional experience with 3D modeling and drafting, including: hardware design, development, model-based definition (MBD), prototyping, and integration of electromechanical prototype or military systems.
  • Experience obtained in a US Navy, Coast Guard, or DOD environment is highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency with SOLIDWORKS or other similar 3D modeling tools. Ideal experience includes:
  • Performing Configuration Management with SOLIDWORKS PDM administration.
  • Using SOLIDWORKS Composer.
  • Ready Relevant Learning Development.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14 standards.
• Proficient with common productivity software such as the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong communication skills.
