JOB SUMMARY: At the discretion of the overseeing clinical provider, in combination with the Porter Cardiology Practice Manager, the Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for the performance of echocardiograms.

Job Responsibilities

-Maintain echocardiography services in accordance with standards established by the American Society of Echocardiography as well as State and Federal agencies.?
-Daily technical operation of the laboratory.?
-Working with the Medical Director, medical staff and technical staff to ensure quality patient care.?
-Perform echo exams on patients as ordered by physicians with first priority given to trauma and critically ill patients.?
-Select proper ultrasound techniques to provide optimum quality ultrasounds.?
-Position and instruct patients regarding procedures.?
-Copy studies to disc as needed for review.?
-Adhere to Porter Hospital and Cardiology Department policies and procedures.?
-Performs other duties as assigned.?
-Maintain equipment and supplies.?
-Maintain required records, documents, and statistics.?
-Participate in both in-service and out service professional educational programs.?
-Attend cardiology department meeting
