Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead our company’s Global Security function, risk management, and crisis management initiatives. The CSO will play a critical role in safeguarding our organization’s assets, people, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsible for leading the Global Security function and overall security strategy of the organization. Oversight and management for establishing long and short-term security operations along with business continuity and crisis management preparedness for the organization while staying aligned with overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Security Operations and Incident Response:

    • Oversee Global Security Operations, including monitoring, detection, and response to security incidents and breaches.
    • Liaise with law enforcement and government agencies around world.
    • Implement and manage security tools and technologies to enhance the organization’s security posture.
    • Develop and maintain incident response plans and protocols to minimize impact and ensure timely resolution of security incidents.
    • Strategy and mitigation efforts for executive levels as well as direction of organizational security well-being for GSO team and organization.
    • Directs corporate travel security management program which includes provision of travel and country threat and security briefings for professionals on long term assignments overseas (Ex-pats) or project personnel traveling overseas.

Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and HR teams to address security and privacy requirements and ensure alignment with corporate policies.
    • Ensure alignment, partnership and compliance (close partner with CISO) with cybersecurity regulations, standards, and industry best practices (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
    • Leads team of Global Security professionals and provides guidance and oversight on performance management, essential training, and career development and succession planning.
    • Accountability for development and management for Corporate Security budget and oversight on other corporate security budgets.
    • Progressive, strategic thought leadership and learning agility for best practices in security and threat protection.

Security Awareness and Training:

    • Promote a culture of security awareness and compliance across the organization through training programs and awareness campaigns.
    • Educate employees on personal safety & security best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure rigor of practices, reduce human error and enhance security resilience.

Strategic Planning, Leadership and Stakeholder Management:

    • Partner with senior management and stakeholders to align security initiatives with business goals and objectives.
    • Plan, prioritize, delegate, and review the work of assigned staff.
    • Provide highest level of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism in all aspects of security to all levels of the organization.
    • Work with HR Leadership to communicate security risks, issues, and strategies to executive leadership, board members, and other key stakeholders.
    • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations on security investments and initiatives to enhance the company’s overall security posture.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of proven experience in a senior security leadership role, such as CSO or Director of Security, preferably in a large organization or complex environment.
  • Proven experience in building and leading a high performing team.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Technical expertise in security technologies, practices, and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks related to security.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and keeps confidences. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, risk management, cybersecurity or related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
  • Experience in military and/orlaw enforcement helpful but not required.
  • Work for employee and traveler safety as a primary outcome 
  • Comfort with travel to developing countries
