Construction Litigation Attorney
We are looking for an attorney with 8 to 15 years of meaningful, hands-on experience handling construction-related matters. You should have a strong working knowledge of construction contracts and a wide range of construction claims. This role will require both strategic advisory work and active litigation responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate construction contracts, including standard forms (AIA, ConsensusDocs, etc.) and custom agreements
- Address key contract terms, such as payment structures, limitations of liability, warranties, termination provisions, and dispute resolution clauses
- Manage and litigate construction claims involving delays, inefficiencies, defects, warranties, design issues, liens, and surety/bond matters
- Lead trials, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and mediations
- Take primary responsibility for litigation matters, including briefing, motion practice, and supervising discovery
- Prepare for and conduct depositions, including expert witnesses
- Maintain strong, responsive communication with clients and internal team members
Qualifications:
- 8 15 years of focused experience in construction law litigation and contract work
- Demonstrated capability to manage complex cases independently
- Strong written advocacy, research skills, and courtroom presence
- Proven experience taking the lead in hearings, arbitrations, and negotiations
- A meaningful portable book of business with demonstrated growth potential is strongly preferred
- Admission to the Michigan Bar is required
