Duties

Essential Functions:

Respond upon request to document law enforcement scenes and identify, collect, and process physical evidence.
Fulfill rotating on-call responsibilities, requiring a response 24 hours a day within 40 minutes of notification.
Replicate video evidence.
Complete supplemental reports for actions in each case.
Manage the intake, processing and storage of submitted evidence, ensuring proper chain of custody and documentation.
Complete submission documents for analysis of evidence. Hand deliver DNA/Print, firearm, narcotic, and trace evidence to appropriate laboratories.
Generate disposition tracers, destruction orders, and pull items for destruction.
Conduct property room audits.
Courtroom testimony, DA's Office consultations, property hearings, and autopsy attendance.
Communicate and coordinate property returns with owners.
Maintain the inventory of supplies available to officers for evidence collection and submission.
Perform related work as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Associate's degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education.
Minimum two (2) years related experience and/or training.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Crime Scene Technician Certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain with one (1) year from date of hire.
