Freight Dispatcher

Job Summary: A Zanesville local trucking company is seeking an experienced and highly organized Freight Dispatcher to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in freight dispatching, exceptional knowledge of geography, and the ability to manage and coordinate shipments efficiently. As a Freight Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of goods while maintaining clear communication with drivers, customers, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispatch freight loads to drivers, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
• Plan and optimize routes based on geographical knowledge to reduce delays and improve fuel efficiency.
• Monitor the progress of shipments, providing updates and handling any issues that arise during transit.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
• Track and verify shipments, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Maintain an updated database of freight orders, customer information, and shipment statuses.
• Manage driver schedules, ensuring compliance with hours of service regulations and resolving any scheduling conflicts.
• Provide support to drivers for problem-solving, including route adjustments and handling unforeseen challenges.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing inquiries or issues related to shipments or delivery status.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Freight Dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation industry.
• Strong understanding of geographic locations and road networks to plan efficient routes.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency with dispatching software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve issues quickly.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• A team player who can collaborate effectively with various departments.
• Knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
• Any certifications related to freight dispatching or transportation are a plus.]
