Houseman & Butler – Greenwich, CT | $120,000-$140,000 Annual Salary

A refined household in Greenwich, CT, is seeking an exceptional Houseman & Butler to ensure the smooth daily operations of the residence and provide top-tier support to the family. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can manage household staff, oversee vendors, perform light maintenance, chauffeur, and assist with simple meal preparation. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, anticipates household needs, and maintains a pristine, organized, and serene home.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an impeccable household, performing hands-on upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
  • Manage household staff, ensuring proper coverage, scheduling, and performance assessments.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify and resolve any issues proactively.
  • Oversee property management, including handyman tasks, outdoor maintenance, and vendor coordination.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors, ensuring high-quality service.
  • Handle errands, including grocery shopping, returns, and inventory management.
  • Assist in simple kitchen tasks, including ingredient prep and meal execution.
  • Provide chauffeur services and oversee vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and refueling.
  • Assist with pet care (grooming, vet visits, and walks).
  • Support the family with travel planning, packing/unpacking, and event coordination.
  • Manage household budgets and expenses, including invoice review and medical claim submissions.
  • Offer direct service for events, gatherings, and entertainment, both on and off-premises.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to additional assets/properties as acquired and willing to travel if needed.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, morning to evening (7 AM – 6 PM).
  • Must be flexible for additional hours, special events, and troubleshooting needs.
  • Household operates 7 days a week, requiring occasional holiday and weekend availability.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a private residence, family office, hotel, or yacht setting.
  • Strong professionalism, integrity, and work ethic.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable.
  • Personable and polished with excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility for occasional overtime, overnight stays, and minimal travel.
  • Fluent English speaker with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record (car provided for family transportation).
  • Discreet and trustworthy, ensuring the utmost confidentiality.
  • Must have verifiable references, pass a background check, and meet health requirements (including immunizations and flu shots).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 DOE
  • Medical stipend provided
