Job Description

Summary

Researches, plans and facilitates acquisition of funds for development and enhancement of innovative programs, projects and initiatives that promote teaching and learning, institutional development, scholarships, and other priorities. Serves in a leadership role in proposal development to secure public and private funding. Assists in implementing plans, strategies and objectives to secure public and private funding, including the development and enhancement of relationships with local and national corporations; and foundations; and grant development collaborations to ensure continuous support. Responsible for institutional record keeping related to institutional grants and resources. Serves as a resource for faculty, administrators, staff and students to write and submit grants and facilitate compliance in grant development, execution and reporting. Maintains relationships with local and national agencies, corporate and foundation officers, business and industry representatives, as well as educational and community partners. Reports to the Dean of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, School of Business, Legal Studies & Social Services.

 

This position is contingent upon funding through the College Foundation Office.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in identifying opportunities and writing proposals to support innovative programming for new and existing initiatives.
  • Develops, writes and submits grant proposals including applications, letters and budgets to foundations and other grant-awarding organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders.
  • Maintains calendar to ensure timely submissions of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines and reports.
  • Establishes and maintains internal and external partnerships and collaborations that enable the College to leverage funding and implement projects and programming.
  • Conducts prospect research and regularly informs college community of funding opportunities.
  • Conducts project launch meetings when funding is awarded and serves an ongoing role in facilitating reporting.
  • Prioritizes projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals.
  • Monitors and utilizes public and private giving trends to develop viable proposals.
  • Maintains an operations and procedures manual for this position.
  • Develops and maintains a grants resource library.
  • Coordinates internal review/approval, submission, and reporting of academic grants.
  • Encourages, assists, and trains faculty and staff in proposal development and grants management.
  • Works with other staff in compiling reports on all institutional grants.
  • Provides technical support by advising faculty and staff on application guidelines and funders’ requirements; coordinating research and planning in proposal development; writing, editing, and/or critiquing proposals; directing the collection of data; developing proposal budgets, completing forms; and preparing grant applications for submission.
  • Acts as liaison between state and federal funding sources and the college.
  • Works with the LCCC Business Office Accounting Staff to provide guidance and assistance to project directors to ensure compliance with the regulations of funding agencies, including the maintenance of appropriate records.
  • Communicates information on grants.
  • Develops and maintains grant management and grant development manuals.
  • Grant Writing assignments maybe required based upon institutional need.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications Required:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

 

Certifications:

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

 

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in grant development or related Progressively responsible related experience is preferred.
  • Ability to seek and synthesize information; communicate in a clear and concise form; and develop clear and compelling proposals.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, research and project management Candidate must be self-motivated, detail oriented, highly-organized, and have experience using online funding databases.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to relate effectively and diplomatically with all levels of personnel at the college and outside contacts.
  • Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

 

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Bilingual

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
