Job Description

The Instructional Design internship is ideal for a junior/senior student or graduate (master's or

doctorate) interested in gaining business experience in Instructional Design. Engaging in the ADDIE process with subject matter experts will enhance your resume, receive mentorship,

and develop instructional design skills through creating courses and resources.

Internship Objective

Within our Learning and Development team, the Instructional Design Intern will be key in

developing course materials and designing courses. The goal is to assist CERTUS Pest in delivering

the high-quality learning experiences that our workforce anticipates from the team.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

• Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content.

• Work with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs.

• Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them.

• Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.

• Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.

• Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.

• Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the

course.

• Maintain project documentation and course folders.

• Develop content utilizing tools such as Articulate 360.

• Create SCORM files for videos and quizzes/assessments.

• Collaborate and communicate with subject matter experts in visual, oral, and written form.

• Contribute towards training-related projects.

Intern Requirements

• Coursework in training and development and instructional design

• Enrolled student currently pursuing an undergraduate (rising junior or senior) or graduate

(master or doctorate) degree in Instructional Design or a related degree (i.e., Education,

Instructional

Technology, Instructional System Technology, Instructional Systems, Learning Design, and Learning

Science)

• Minimum of 3.0 GPA

• English language proficiency

• Experience using the Microsoft suite of products.

• Proficiency in using e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline)

• Experience with graphic design software such as Photoshop, Canva

• Preferred: Instructional Design/E-Learning Certificate

Intern Necessary Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of adult learning theory, including interactive learner-centered methodology

• Understanding of instructional design principles and methodologies.

• Familiarity with crucial learning theories and their application.

• Strong written and verbal communication for collaboration.

• Capability to think creatively and design engaging learning experiences.

• Efficiently manage time and meet deadlines.

• Ability to adapt to various technologies and design trends.

• Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with team members.

• Consistently learn and retain new data related to our business and instructional design needs.

• Requires mental acuity to concentrate, recall, understand, and explain information.

Intern Work Arrangement Expectations

• An unpaid internship.

• Provides real-world experience, mentorship, and certificate of completion.

• If credit is available from your school for participation in an internship, you will need to

provide the requirements in advance during the application process for review and consideration.

• Duration of up to 12 weeks maximum.

• Commitment of up to 25 hours per week with flexibility available for academic schedule.

• There is no expectation of an employment opportunity at the end of the internship.

• A signed internship agreement will need to be executed.

• Computer and peripheral equipment will need to be provided by the student.

• Necessary company software access will be provided by CERTUS.

• This internship is virtual.

• Periods of working under pressure.

• No travel is required for this role.
