Job Description

David Baker Architects is a collaborative team of optimistic designers and architects committed to leading with expertise, curiosity, tenacity, pragmatism, and joy. We are national leaders in affordable housing and innovative sustainable design, and we pursue projects that have the power to build, transform, and reflect the character and strength of a community. We understand that designing climate-responsive housing is more than pursuing a zero carbon building, and that the context of community development, infrastructure and social equity drive the impact of a project.

As a JUST-certified organization, we are committed to equity and social justice both in our practice and our workplace culture. DBA is headquartered in San Francisco, with an office and fabrication shop in Oakland, California, an office in Birmingham, Alabama and growing base in Los Angeles, CA.

We are seeking a creative and collaborative Interior Architect or Designer with an interest in housing, hospitality, and social justice. This position—for a licensed interior architect or an interior designer— will work in our Interiors studio to manage projects from acquisition through design and completion. We’re looking for a capable, collaborative person who can work with our in-house team across many projects as well as independently.

The DBA_Inside interiors studio is integrated throughout the larger DBA practice, collaborating on large-scale projects (multifamily housing and hotels) as well as running stand-alone commercial interior architecture projects (commercial interiors, adaptive reuse, and tenant fit outs) that balance high-end design with community benefit.
