Lecturer, Graduate School of Management

Position Overview:
A reasonable estimate for this position is $74,576-$151,597.

The Graduate School of Management (GSM) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is seeking a dynamic and passionate lecturer to teach courses in Introductory microeconomics at the graduate level as early as 2025 Spring Quarter. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-impact education in economics and advising students on career strategies.

Lecturers are selected to fill occasional specialized teaching needs that are part-time and temporary in nature. In any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary. This appointment is renewable contingent on continuing department teaching needs and demonstration of excellence in teaching. Compensation and the duration of the appointment will depend on the number of courses assigned and the number of units per course.

Key responsibilities include:

• Course development: Develop and teach courses that focus on industry-specific trends, leadership development, networking strategies, and professional growth for MBA students. Responsibilities include course preparation and creating assignments and exams.
  
• Course delivery: Foster an inclusive, engaging, and dynamic learning environment with practical exercises, and hands-on projects. Responsibilities include presentation of course lectures, grading assignments, grading exams, and holding office hours outside of class.
  Course Descriptions are as follows:
  MGB 402A and MGV 402AV, Markets and the Firm:
  Examines the interaction of consumers, firms and government, and the effect this interaction has on the use of resources and firm profitability. Fundamental economic concepts such as marginal analysis, opportunity cost, pricing, and externalities are introduced and applied.
  MGV 402AV is an online course taught by a team of instructors. The lead instructor designs the course and creates asynchronous instructional materials.
  MGB 402A is a hybrid course based at our satellite campus in San Ramon, with a mix of in-person instructions on Saturdays and remote instructional components. There may be opportunities for additional courses in economics or related subjects.
