Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice in culturally responsive teaching and learning
  • Collaborative, collegial, flexible teacher; able to work both with core classroom teachers and the World Language department to adhere to similar curricular scope and sequence through the grades
  • Clear communicator with students, colleagues and parents/guardians  
  • Demonstrates expertise in teaching French to children in grades K-5, using a variety of teaching approaches in order to reach different student populations and adapt to better serve their learning styles and needs
  • Demonstrates success partnering with parents to support the educational needs of their students
  • Strong writing, organizational, planning, and leadership skills 
  • Possesses a growth mindset, a love of learning, and patience 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in French Language and/or Literature or equivalent area of study. 
  • Fluent or Native French speaker
  • Familiarity with best practices for pedagogical approaches for teaching another language
  • 3-5 years experience teaching primary and elementary level students; 

Additional Qualifications we hope to find, but not required:

  • Advanced degrees/certification are desirable in French (Language, Literature, Culture) and, or, Education
  • Experience with innovative approaches to teaching language, such as with Comprehensible Input or Integrated Performance Assessments.
  • Familiarity with ACTFL Proficiency standards. 

Other Requirements

  • Must show proof of negative TB test within the last four years in addition to participation in background screening.

$75,500 - $127,500 a year

*Dependent on Years of Experience Teaching and Education Level
