Part-Time Shuttle Driver

Summary:

The Shuttle Bus Driver provides excellent customer service to the Campus Community. The Shuttle Bus Driver drives a College sedan or minivan to provide safe, reliable transportation of visitors, guests, or employees.

Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drives vehicle from designated College campus loading areas to nearby international or regional airports.
  • Greets passengers arriving on flights or drives individuals to other destinations according to the assigned schedule.
  • Assists passengers into and out of vehicle, as needed.
  • Assists with passenger luggage.
  • Adheres to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Follows college policies and procedures for recording trips.
  • Provides excellent customer service at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Five years' related experience as a professional driver.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Ohio Driver's license required.

  • Applies sound judgment to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Handles problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Communicates effectively with visitors, guests, and College employees.
Knowledge:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be personable and enjoy interacting with a diverse group of people.
Abilities:
  • Acknowledge and comply with all departmental SOP, safety, and college requirements.
  • Strong professional ethics and discretion with an attitude of respect for all persons at COW.

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the staff member regularly operates a moving vehicle at highway speeds.
  • The individual occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
