Security Installation Technician Job Overview

As a security Install Technician, you'll receive hands-on training to install, program, and troubleshoot security and alarm systems in newly built and existing homes. Key Responsibilities for Security Install Technician Careers

• Perform new installations of home security systems and devices in residential properties
• Program security systems for integration with central monitoring stations
• Test and verify all installed devices ensure they are operating safely and reliably
• Educate homeowners on effective system operation and best use practices
• Support retrofitting of new wires and integration with existing home systems
• Maintain accurate records of truck inventory, tools, and parts
• Resolve routine operational challenges for builder clients during installation or maintenance
• Install and configure popular security brands including Honeywell, DSC, Alarm.com, GE, and QOLSYS
• Work with CAT5 and RG6 cabling (installation, termination, and retrofitting)
• Assist with installation of central vacuum and M&S/OnQ intercom systems as needed
• Collaborate with manager for additional projects and tasks as assigned

Qualifications for Security System Technician Jobs

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ years of experience in electronics, construction, cable installation, or a related field preferred (but not required)
• Familiarity with home security systems (Honeywell, DSC, Alarm.com, GE, QOLSYS) is a plus
• Residential homebuilding experience is advantageous
• Physical ability to access attics, work on ladders, and transport equipment
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and self-motivation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication; bilingual skills are highly desirable
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
