Job Description

Security Officer at Providence Newberg Medical Center- ON-CALL, Day Schedule

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer, performs a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; respond and assist in restraining patients; detain individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provide protective services to high risk areas. Mobile positions will conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, patient standbys, alarm/nuisance call response, special details and assist in training of clinic personnel. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Required Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED.

  • Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training upon hire. Or,

  • Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training upon hire.

  • Valid Driver's License upon hire.

  • Private Security Temporary Work Permit PS-20 upon hire.

  • 1 year - Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training - College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.

  • 1 year - Security/law enforcement experience such as corrections, police, reserve and military police.

  • Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.
