(Seeking candidates within a commutable distance of the Long Beach, CA area who are legally authorized to work in the US without restrictions)

This role can be filled as a Structural Steel Fabrication Estimator OR a Blended Role Structural Steel Fabrication Estimator (~85%) /Project Manager (~15%)

Position Summary
Responsible for responding to RFQs and creating bid packages and estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. This position must be familiar with American Institute of Steel Construction and the American Welding Society (AWS) fabrication requirements

Responsibilities Summary

· Review and analyze blueprints, technical specifications, and other documentation to accurately estimate steel fabrication. Products include beams, columns, braces, and miscellaneous steel fabrications.

· Prepare “take-offs” from client drawings and contract drawings and documents to accurately estimate all material, shop labor, special order items, and freight required to produce quotations and bids.

· Resolve discrepancies between contract documents and customer requests.

· Adhere to and follow the company’s estimating guidelines, procedures, and OSHA and other safety protocols and limit exposure to safety hazards.

· Identify efficiencies and limit cost impacts.

· Interfaces with new and existing customers and identifies opportunities to increase sales.

· Participate in special projects.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Summary

· Ability to read and interpret documents, contract drawings, client-provided and other drawings, as well as shop and design blueprint drawings to accurately translate needs (and prepare “take-offs,” as necessary), resulting in a concise and compelling proposal in response to RFIs and RFPs.

· Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

· Above-average time-management skills.

· Rigorous and steadfast attention to detail.

· Good communication skills.

· Ability to work in an open environment with a moderate-to-loud noise level that is consistent with a steel shop environment.

· Intermediate-level computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products and prior experience utilizing ERP/MRP, and CRM software.

· Ability to operate a forklift may be helpful and therefore, “a plus.”

Education/Experience

·5+ years of estimating experience or a combination of 2+ years of estimating experience and a relevant associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant field may be substituted.

· Knowledge of the latest AISC and AWS fabrication requirements.

· Experience working for a structural steel fabricator.

· Ability to operate a forklift is preferred.

· Those with related Project Manager experience such as end-to-end project oversight and coordination, receiving, counting, verifying parts and materials, or forecasting comprehensive project costs of raw materials, labor, tools, etc. may be “a plus.”

Compensation
$36 - $44 per hour, depending on experience. (This employer will consider paying more for extraordinary experience such as Project Management, Erection, or proven Sales experience.)
