Summary

Substitute teachers are responsible for assisting the regular teacher in managing the classroom environment at Christ Church School in the absence of the second regular classroom teacher. He or she will promote a loving, nurturing, and inclusive Christian community through daily interactions with staff and families while helping to teach lessons that meet the children’s academic, emotional, social and spiritual needs. 

Duties

• Assist with developmentally appropriate lessons as directed by the lead teacher
• Create a comfortable and secure environment by upholding the established classroom limits, routines and structure
• Assist in meeting the age-appropriate needs of the children in the classroom (feeding, diapering, toileting, etc)
• Model and encourage positive social skills
• Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and attitude

Requirements

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in early childhood education or a related setting or other relevant experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate stairs
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
