Sylvan Learning Center, the nation's leading provider of educational services, seeks part-time teachers. At Sylvan Learning Center, we teach students (Pre-K through High School) at various levels to increase confidence and independence, providing them with skills that will last a lifetime. We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our Westlake Village Learning Center. Available subjects include math, reading, writing and SAT prep. As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are: Just Teaching. No Lesson Plans. No Preparation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Supervise, interact with, and motivate students Reward students for completed assignments Evaluate and document student progress Communicate student needs to the center director Inspire and develop a rapport with students Establish a fun learning environment Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Some college required Four year degree or equivalent preferred but not required State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (current or expired) Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers Compensation: $18-$20/hour
