JOB SUMMARY
The Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Victim Advocate provides direct support and advocacy services to individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The victim advocate offers information, support services, crisis intervention, and help to find resources for victims. The victim advocate works collaboratively with on and off-campus professionals, including the Lasell University Title IX Coordinator, law enforcement, local hospitals and healthcare providers, counseling services, legal personnel, and other domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, education, and advocacy organizations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Crisis Intervention & Support: Provide emotional support, safety planning, and advocacy for individuals seeking help due to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Offer immediate crisis intervention services, including helping survivors create safety plans and assess immediate needs (housing, food, medical care, etc.). Maintain a supportive, non-judgmental environment while building trust and rapport with survivors. Case Management: Conduct intake assessments to understand the survivor's needs and goals. Develop and implement individualized case plans with clear, achievable outcomes in collaboration with clients. Provide ongoing case management services, including referrals to appropriate services (e.g., legal aid, housing, therapy, health care, and financial assistance). Advocacy & Legal Assistance: Advocate on behalf of survivors with law enforcement, courts, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and other community resources. Accompany survivors to court hearings, medical appointments, and other critical meetings as needed and preferred by survivors. Assist survivors in navigating the legal system, including obtaining protection orders, filing police reports, and understanding their rights. Outreach & Education: Support the Project Director in providing educational presentations, training, and events/programs on domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Collaboration: Work closely on and off-campus professionals, including the Lasell University Title IX Coordinator, law enforcement, local hospitals and healthcare providers, counseling services, legal personnel, and other domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, education, and advocacy organizations to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to victim services. Attend Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) meetings to help guide the awarded Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Grant to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program (Campus Program). Serve as the CCRT Victim Services Chair by meeting with on an off-campus professionals to review cases. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential case files, documentation, and reports in compliance with agency policies and legal requirements. Monitor client progress, documenting key outcomes, and adjusting support strategies as necessary.

Subject to the completion of a Remote Work Agreement, this is a Tier 2 - Hybrid/flex position primarily requiring on-campus work while allowing for some remote work as approved by the supervisor as well.

Minimum Education Level : Bachelor's degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Computer Skills : Basic Other Requirements of the Job : Some travel, some weekends and evening hours required. CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION OR LICENSURE REQUIRED BY THE JOB Required: Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as available community resources and trauma-informed care. Knowledge of relevant legal processes, including victim rights and protection orders. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude towards survivors. Preferred: Certification or training in domestic violence advocacy, sexual assault counseling, or crisis intervention. Experience working in a higher education-based setting. Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Work Environment:
The Victim Advocate will work in a variety of settings, including office environments, community spaces, and, when necessary, off-site locations. This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours to meet victim needs or attend community events.
