Boiler Plant Operator

Job Summary:
We are looking for Boiler Plant Operators to support our team in Hot Springs, SD
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate boiler plant with 4 boilers with a capacity of 55,000 pounds of steam per hr. (Boilers are fired by #2 ultra-low sulfur fuel oil to produce saturated or superheated steam required to meet challenging load demands).
• Maintain efficient combustion levels and ensure compliance with air emission laws and/or regulations.
• Use electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls and zone charts in conjunction with meters, gauges, and DDC computer-generated data to determine adjustments or corrections necessary for boiler operations or changing load requirements.
• Adjust firing controls for the correct air-fuel mixture and adjust fuel feeds and air drafts to get the best combustion efficiency by using combustion testing equipment, opacity readings and adjust fuel feeds and the volume and velocity of draft and other firebox variables to achieve maximum combustion efficiency with changing load demands or variation in fuel quality. demands or variation in fuel quality.
• Check, repair, and adjust equipment, including boilers, reverse osmosis water units, burners, combustion controls, flow meters, fuel handling equipment, steam-driven and electric feed water pumps, chemical metering pumps, feed water heaters, and water softeners.
• Repair and replace major steam and water piping assemblies. Operate an emergency electrical generator to meet plant electrical requirements when the main electrical source is unable to provide power.
• Analyze boiler feed water, water boiler, and condensation using standard chemical tests.
• Determine the treatment and chemicals to be used to control chemical condensations, remove impurities and entrapped gases, or stabilize fluctuating water conditions in the boiler.
• Test domestic hard and soft water to ensure there is a proper supply of treated hard and soft water supply to the medical center by monitoring the water tank levels to ensure proper fire protection.
• Operates and maintains water supply pumps, water softeners, and chlorinators.
• Clean tools, machines, and equipment.
• Keeps the work area clean and orderly. Provides a safe working environment by adhering to safety control guidelines and reporting unsafe conditions.
Job Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED
• Boiler operator license
• Welding experience
• Physical stamina
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to follow safety procedures
• Ability to work in a variety of conditions, including heat, dirt, grease, and smoke
Rate: $40.00 plus $4.98 H&W
Shift Schedule – 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
4:00 pm – 12:00 am
12:00 am – 8:00 am
