AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Dams and Reservoirs Hydrology & Hydraulics Lead for our Denver, Colorado office. This Senior Engineer will support our dams business both within, and outside of the US. We are looking for an engineer with strong civil, hydrologic and hydraulic skill sets to work with our multidiscipline teams to deliver challenging water resources projects related to civil design, dam design, hydraulic design of spillways and outlet works, development of hydraulic models, development of EAPs, dam breach and risk analysis studies, development of hydrologic models (frequency and extreme storm events), and associated reporting.

The primary responsibilities of this position preferably include, but are not limited to:

  • Hydrologic analyses including flood frequency estimates, statistical hydrology, model preparation, calibration, and verification.
  • Hydraulic structure modeling including weirs, orifices, spillways, and outlet works systems, using one- and two-dimensional modeling approaches as well as spreadsheet calculations.
  • Dam breach analyses using one- and two-dimensional hydraulic modeling approaches and preparation of inundation maps.
  • Supporting other dam engineering activities such as potential failure modes workshops, risk analyses, and emergency action planning.
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Preparing drawings, specifications and calculations.
  • Performing detailed reviews of technical deliverables prepared by others.
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling using various software packages (HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), FLOW-3D, HEC-HMS and SRH-2D)
  • Analysis and design of spillways and outlet works on dams, and working with the design team to develop drawings and specifications.
  • Preparing inundation maps, technical reports and memorandums
  • Performing detailed reviews of technical deliverables prepared by others.
  • Task management/project management
  • Mentoring and training staff
  • Providing technical leadership
  • Coordinating with other technical disciplines including geotechnical, geological, structural, and environmental
  • Face to face interaction with clients
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environmente plan.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and/or Water Resources Engineering and 8+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer in Colorado (or ability to obtain PE license within 6 months of hire)

:

  • Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and/or Water Resources Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant water resource related experience with dams
  • 10+ years of experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models
  • Proven experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and their interfaces with ArcGIS)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and computation skill
  • Ability to work with a team consisting of several technical disciplines
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ArcGIS and AutoDesk AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with CFD software such as FLOW3D
