Job Description and Duties

Under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and the direct administrative supervision of the Chief Support Executive or Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Physical Therapist I, CF administers physical therapy treatments and active, passive, restorative, and resistive therapeutic treatment to patients in a correctional facility. Interprets to patients the significance of physical therapy services. Complies with all the applicable State and federal laws and regulations and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to the physical therapy program. The Physical Therapist I, CF maintains order and supervises the conduct of the incarcerated and maintains the safety of persons and property and the security of working areas and work materials

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of physical therapy in California as determined by the California Medical Board. (Applicants may be admitted to the examination prior to meeting these requirements, but the California Medical Board must determine that all legal requirements have been met before candidates will be eligible for appointment.)

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) CA Medical Board approved Physical Therapy License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
