Key Responsibilities

Protocol Operations

• Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) and study sponsor to ensure effective research protocol execution.
• Assess patients for protocol eligibility through personal interviews and medical record reviews.
• Coordinate patient recruitment, scheduling, and retention in alignment with protocol requirements.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to monitor patients participating in research protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation in patient medical records and research logs.
• Develop protocol-specific documentation and reference tools.
• Assist the PI in evaluating patient response to protocol therapy and generate protocol summary reports as needed.

Protocol Auditing & Education

• Prepare for and participate in external monitoring and auditing visits.
• Educate patients and families on treatment management and follow-up within clinical trials.
• Administer investigational medications in accordance with protocol guidelines.
• Assist in managing research-related budgets and charges for assigned protocols.
• Stay current on research and oncology-related updates through continuous education.
• Provide education to professional and ancillary staff regarding research protocols.

Research Updates

• Keep up to date with advancements in research, oncology, and data management.
• Attend departmental research meetings and conferences.
• Serve as a mentor and trainer for new research personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of registered nursing experience.

Licensure/Certification:

• Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Certifications:

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as required by the patient care area.
