This is a part-time (up to 25 hours per week) position.
SCOPE OF WORK: Performs general safety and security functions associated with patrolling, inspecting, and securing buildings and grounds, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to alarms and incidents, assisting the community and public, maintaining records, and assists with training and guiding new officers. This position reports to the Director of Campus Safety at Nashua Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Three years' experience in law enforcement work as a security guard/officer, police officer, corrections officer, or military police officer.
Special Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS:Knowledge of law enforcement work and arrest procedures. Skill in dealing with offenders of the rules and regulations established for the control of pilfering and damage to college owned property. Ability to enforce laws in accordance with standard procedure to control pilfering and damage to college property. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to work with people and secure their cooperation without the use of violence. Ability to perform investigations, question witnesses and prepare written reports. Ability to use judgment when using force to control individuals or groups. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with employees, residents, other law enforcement agencies and the general public. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
